Summary

Pressure injuries: Act fast, protect care. Learn how early action and a strong QAPI approach can reduce pressure injury risks, meet F686 standards, and protect your team from citations and liability. An in-house acquired or declining pressure injury puts providers at risk for regulatory citations and litigation. The burden on the provider is to demonstrate that the development or decline of a pressure injury was unavoidable. The interventions that are implemented within the first 24 hours are critical, as well as on-going interdisciplinary updates to the plan of care. This session will utilize the QAPI approach for implementing or enhancing a pressure injury program to ensure your pressure injury program meets regulatory guidance for F686, as well as NPIAP and WOCN standards of practice to minimize regulatory and legal risk.
