Summary

LTC electronic monitoring explicitly became effective in Minnesota statute on January 1, 2020. Over five years later there have been situations where issues of privacy, ethics, data handling, data access, risk mitigation, litigation, and more have increasingly come to light. Please join us as attorneys Rebecca Coffin from Rodè and Coffin, LLC, and Steve Plunkett from Bassford Remele discuss policies, compliance, litigation and risk mitigation regarding the evolution of electronic monitoring.

As the use of electronic monitoring in nursing homes and assisted living facilities increases, providers must navigate complex legal, ethical, and operational challenges. This session will explore key considerations, including legal requirements, privacy concerns, risk mitigation strategies, best practices for handling and preserving footage, and facility rights. Through real-world case examples, attendees will gain insights into balancing resident safety, regulatory compliance, and staff concerns while implementing electronic monitoring policies effectively.
