Summary

Focused on proactive risk mitigation in LTC, this series will help you learn practical strategies to identify and reduce risks, covering key areas like resident safety, regulatory compliance, and financial risks. Each session in the series will provide tools and insights to help LTC professionals manage challenges effectively and improve care quality.

Elopement is a serious situation that has affected many post-acute residents and centers throughout the US. Elopements are preventable. This session provides an overview of proven assessment and prevention techniques that will help providers develop policies and procedures to address elopement risk, including addressing wandering and exit-seeking behavior.  We will also explore the role of the Safety Committee in monitoring the environment of the center for vulnerabilities that, when addressed, reduce the risk of an elopement occurring. The importance of auditing systems, with an emphasis on staff interviews, is an important component of the QAPI process..
