Elopement is a serious situation that has affected many post-acute residents and centers throughout the US. Elopements are preventable. This session provides an overview of proven assessment and prevention techniques that will help providers develop policies and procedures to address elopement risk, including addressing wandering and exit-seeking behavior.  We will also explore the role of the Safety Committee in monitoring the environment of the center for vulnerabilities that, when addressed, reduce the risk of an elopement occurring.
