Summary

Staying compliant with the Minnesota Food Code can be challenging. This session will highlight common food code violations found in assisted living kitchens, why compliance matters, and practical tips to prevent repeat issues during surveys.

The Minnesota Food Code includes a wide range of detailed requirements, and staying compliant can be a challenge—especially in busy assisted living settings. This session will take a closer look at the most commonly cited food code violations found in assisted living kitchens during regulatory surveys. Participants will learn why these standards are in place, the impact of noncompliance on resident safety and survey outcomes, and actionable strategies to improve food safety practices. We’ll also explore practical steps facilities can take to prevent repeat violations, strengthen staff knowledge, and build a culture of ongoing compliance.
